Plantar Fasciitis Piriformis results from ” Drastic or sudden increases in mileage, poor foot structure, and inappropriate running shoes can overload the plantar fascia”, I have done none of this in the past few months. It is the connective tissue that runs from the heel to the base of the toes. Over the past few weeks I have started to get some pain in my left foot. I initially but this down to the new Astro boots I had been wearing. I though they were hurting my sole. It is painful when I wake up in the morning and when I start running. The symptoms described on runners world are exactly what I’m feeling. It goes away and then I’m back to my normal run. It is especially noticeable after sitting or lying down for extended periods.
The advice I have been seeing on forums and boards etc is to reduce millage and to check your footwear. I can reduce millage but that will effect any summer marathon plans. I seem to have had injuries allot in the past year or so. At 27 I have plenty of medium-long distance running left but I’m loosing speed on shorter distances. The temptation is to keep getting back out there. I’m going to make a commitment to start taking Monday and Wednesdays as rest days for the foreseeable future. I am concerned about recovery.
It never rains but pour. My knees are also playing up so I have decided to start taking glucosamine sulphate and see if it will help my cartilage repair faster. I will report back in a month and see where I’m at.
