Injury and bruised ribs

This has been a week of mixed fortune. On Tuesday I found out I had been obtained automatic qualification for the New York marathon on the 1st of Novemeber.

I was all set to create a schedule and start into it on May 1st. I have been missing my tempo runs for about 3 months now due to nagging injuries with my feet and then my knees. Both have now died down somewhat due to my extra stretching. I have also been spending a long time each day working on my core.

I was all set. After training last Tuesday I just didn’t feel right. I was struggling with my breathing and found a short 6* 600m session a bit too difficult. The pace was slow 1:50 but I couldn’t push it. I was seeing myself pulling away but couldn’t. I put it all down to the 10K last weekend in Navan. I had run a reasonable race in the national taking 17 seconds off the PB.

On Wednedsay I started having reall trouble breathing. I had some how managed to stretch a muscle in my back and bruised a few ribs. I had a weekend of racking planned saturday in RTE, Monday in the Phoenix Park and if I felt good a tempo run for the 4mile Pfizer on Sunday. 3 days 3 races I was feling on form. Well now I’m going to miss the RTE which I really wanted to run and will hopefully feel better for Monday. I really want to beat that 10K. Sub 35 is calling me. I need it this season.

Lets hope the breathing improves over the weekend and I can run Monday. The pain is going a bit I think. Lets see how it goes. watch this space for he marathon schedule which will now be 25 weeks I think.
