Recovery Plan Progress

Leixlip Castle

Image via Wikipedia

On May 9th I gave up during the run. It was the 5K road race in Leixlip and I just felt like shit. It’s now been a month and a huge amount of cash spent at the physio and I’m starting to feel like I’m on the mend. Whilst I’m still getting the pain in my right leg and the left foot still feels week I think that from tomorrow I can start to get abck into training a bit.

The plan now is to get back into training start with 30 miles this week and then build back upto 40 by the end of the month. Fingers crossed that by the middle of Jully I will be running

My major concern is still New York. At the moment I dont have the confidence that I had 6 months ago. But hopefully with a decent bit of training I can start to get back into things and get on the mend. The main thing to remember and what I have learned from the layoff is speed is reuired but speed also kills. It’s better to do 4 laps at smilar speeds than one really fast followed by 3 poor laps. You also need to know when to rest.

I will decide on July 1st if New York is a runner this year. It may have to be postponed.
